Style Challenge: Minimalism

In this weeks Style Challenge, our team tackles Minimalism. This is all about creating an outfit that is simple but also still very specific to them. This proved to be more difficult for some than others. Enjoy!

Welcome back to our Style Challenge series!

This week please see how our incredibly stylish and creative friends interpret the style of Minimalism in their own unique ways. Now minimalism is very simple so this is defintely a great way to learn about creating your own capsule wardrobe and how others create set and simple outfits.

Please enjoy!

The lovely Aysia exemplifies the minimal concept with both the simple top and jeans which is a staple, as well as the color block dress.

In minimalism neutral colors go a very very long way, especially when paired with a good pair of denim. In my opinion denim is a neutral, I will not elaborate further, but yes it is in fact a neutral.

Something that I really enjoy with the tank and jean combo is how she uses her tattoo as an accessory. Something I appreciate about minimalism is how you create accessories with body art, and piercings. It can bring a lot of spotlight to those simple body modifications that you get to look cool.

The color block dress is definitely an attention grabber, and it’s extremely simple. When you let the clothes do their own thing it can really go a very very long.

What makes Ayshia’s approach to minimalism so stylish is her use of accessories. It’s everything around the clothes or the statement piece of the wardrobe.

Brandon is always going to bring a level of eccentricity to his look. There’s a whole color palette that plays off of each other that works so well. There’s are very subtle pops of color at play that create interesting contrast and interest.

The green sweater vest, with the stripped pants, play off each other extremely well. Same with the tan, and the scarf. Minimalism can be interesting and still fun. And Brandon does a great job with bringing that out in his outfits. The blue socks, and purple sneakers, add subtle pops but do not overwhelm the outfit, or take away from them.

Chi Chi decided that she is going to in fact become minimalism here. She chose to take minimalism in a matter of a monochromatic way. The all green outfit is absolutely a very modern style take on minimalism. It’s incredibly simple but still incredibly interesting.

Now it doesn’t look like it, but the sweater look is beautifully layered. It’s interesting in both texture and layers.

The poses giving vogue magazine cover also definitely helps give the outfits dimension as well. I appreciate how she’s pairing the boots with the sweater and shorts. It makes the outfit interesting and causes you to look at it in its entirety.

The last outfit is absolutely a classic take on minimalism that I appreciate. It’s so classic and so well done.

Khaos really took a very different approach by showcasing a graphic tee and cardigan can be minimalist. Khaos’s style naturally gravitates to to a more streetwear aesthetic. And he definitely shows that here.

The cardigan is the main focal point with various color palettes and different focal points which all work well. I value that his style stays consistent in how he approaches each prompt.

The orange pop out, looks really good with the beige cardigan. The colors compliment each other and allows both the cardigan and shirt to have its moment.

They have really showcased minimalism beautifully and that it can have a variety of approaches. Minimalism is good for a capsule wardrobe yes, but it’s also great to make a statement as well.

Talk to you again soon!
